The Proof of the Resurrection in You (April 22,2020)

"The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God." Acts 1:1-3

Today, I want to focus on Acts 1:3.  Luke tells us that after Jesus resurrected from the dead, He continued to teach and give the apostles commandments by the Holy Spirit and this went on for 40 days. and He was speaking to them about the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.  Acts 1:3 - to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs Infallible/Unmistakable means a  demonstrative proof or evidence. For forty days, Jesus gave the apostles commandments through the Holy Spirit, talked to them about the kingdom of God, and gave them unmistakable/demonstrative proof or evidence that He was alive.  This is important to know.   Why? Because it was more than just an empty tomb- there was a Risen King.  It’s important that we know they didn’t just find an empty tomb. As powerful as that is, it didn’t stop there.  It’s important we know that someone didn’t come and steal the body, or that Jesus was barely alive or on life support and then propped up for a day or two to convince everyone that He was resurrected.   No, the tomb was empty because Jesus resurrected in power.  He was the Risen King full of power and authority, and for forty days He gave undeniable and unmistakable proof that He is alive. That is why the apostles went to the Upper Room, waited for the Holy Spirit to be poured out, and then went and preached a powerful message about a Resurrected Christ.  They passionately preached that Christ was the Resurrected Son of the Living God because for forty days He gave them unmistakable and indisputable evidence that He is alive.   We are proof of the resurrection.  Jesus continues to give infallible proof today that He is alive and is still doing and teaching through us.  The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us.  “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11. We once were dead, and God brought us back to life.  We are the undeniable proof that Jesus is alive because He lives in us and through us.  When we live in the fullness of life that Jesus provides and walk in the blessing and inheritance that comes through the finished work of the cross, we are doing all that Jesus did and taught- we are the undeniable proof that Jesus is Alive.   We are the infallible proof of a Resurrected Savior.  This is our season to shine and be the proof that people need to see in order to show that Jesus is alive and well and sitting on His Throne.  Let’s rise and shine and teach and do as Jesus did, so that the proof of resurrection will be evident to everyone we come in contact with and impact them for eternity.  "And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
